LiDAR / SoDAR testing and measurement campaigns

Building on its 15 years of experience in wind measurements using tall masts and SoDARs, Ecofys WTTS has been also active in LiDAR wind measurement campaigns. In addition to the campaigns, Ecofys WTTS has performed verification and validation tests for LiDARs remote sensing systems, in order to check the functional accuracy of the remote sensing equipment.

LiDAR Measurement Campaigns

Ecofys provides full wind measurement services, including transportation, installation, operation, quality control and maintenance of the remote sensing systems. Ecofys WTTS operates also its own LiDARs.

LiDAR/SoDAR Testing Services

Ecofys WTTS provides state of the art testing services for remote sensing systems. LiDARs and SoDARs are tested in the biggest onshore Wind Turbine Test Site in Europe, located in the Netherlands.
The remote sensing systems are tested against at least 4 measurement heights at any of our fully MEANSET-compliant met masts.

Ecofys WTTS investigates whether remote sensing systems measure accurately the wind profile by performing the following tests:

Validation: Functional accuracy check of the remote sensing equipment performed against MEASNET certified reference anemometers
Verification: Complete test campaign providing quantitative traceability of performance to international standards.
Certification: A verification complemented by a sensitivity analysis on key meteorological parameters.
